Our 5% Sulfur & 2% Salicylic Acid Peppermint Shampoo Bar helps stop the symptoms of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and psoriasis but without the plastic bottle. It's a natural alternative to Zinc Pyrithione-based products. The premium formulated plant-based ingredients lather big and rinse well in all water types. This gentle medicated dandruff bar gives the national brand liquid counterparts a run for their money. It's 100% soap-free and uses volcanic sulfur, salicylic acid, peppermint oil, argan oil, and oat flower to treat scalp issues. The natural peppermint does a good job of masking much of the sulfur scent.

ACTIVE & INACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

  • Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI): Known as Baby Foam due to its exceptional mildness, SCI is a surfactant (a word that is the shortened version of the term “Surface Active Agent”) that is comprised of a type of sulphonic acid called Isethionic Acid as well as the sodium salt ester from Coconut Oil. Sufactants prompt oil and water to combine, thereby making it easier for oily residue found on the hair to attach to syndet (synthetic detergent) and water, leaving the hair cleansed of any grease without stripping away its natural oils.

  • Stearic Acid: A vegetable derived waxy substance used as a thickening agent in shampoo bars.

  • Coconut Fatty Acid: A surfactant, cleansing agent, emulsifier and a foam booster.

  • Sulfur: 5% Volcanic Sulfur. Used to treat acne and seborrheic dermatitis. Sulfur helps dry out the surface of your skin to help absorb excess oil (sebum).

  • Salicylic Acid: 2% Salicylic acid - a “lipid-soluble” ingredient, which means it can effectively penetrate your pores. It helps unclog pores and keep them free.

  • Sodium Isothionate: An organic salt isethionic acid that was discovered in 1833. It is used as an organosulfur compound. It lowers the pH while maintaining a high level of detergency and lather.

  • Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) Oil: Peppermint is used to mask the unpleasant smell of other ingredients - this zinc bar packs a natural peppermint burst that tingles. Menthol, a component in the peppermint, has many health benefits.

  • Coco Glucoside: A natural, gentle, and environmentally-friendly cleansing agent and surfactant sourced from coconuts.

  • Water

  • Sodium Methyl 2 Sulfolaurate & Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate: A mild, non-drying cleanser derived from coconut oil. Adds foam to the shampoo bar.

  • Cetearyl Alcohol & Ceteareth-20: A self-emulsifying, non-ionic cream with emulsification properties. An emulsifier is capable of dispersing one liquid into another immiscible liquid. This means that while oil (which attracts dirt) doesn't naturally mix with water, soap/shampoo can suspend oil/dirt in such a way that it can be removed.

  • Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate: A high purity, versatile and readily biodegradable chelate based upon L-glutamic acid - a natural and renewable raw material. Increases the anti-oxidant properties and help the shampoo to work better in hard water.

  • Argan Oil: Often referred to as “liquid gold,” Argan Oil comes from the Moroccan Argan Tree (Argania Spinosa) and has long been used to soften, soothe and moisturize skin and hair. It is made from the kernels of argan fruit.

  • Avena Sativa (Oat Kernel) Flour: Oatmeal.

  • Sucrose Cocoate: A natural chemical ingredient sourced from coconuts. Sucrose Cocoate is a hydrophilic emollient, meaning that it absorbs water and can help to balance or maintain moisture. It is also has a thickening effect, and can increase the density of foam.

  • Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate: A sodium salt of the isostearic acid ester of lactyl lactate that adds excellent feel to the detergent and emulsion system. It is also substantive to skin and hair and is hygroscopic (absorbing moisture from the air). It has several functions: emulsification, conditioning, hair repair, and moisturization.

DIRECTIONS:

Rub directly onto hair to create a later. Massage into your hair and scalp. Leave in contact with skin for at least 60-90 seconds. Rinse well. Store bar on a soap tray or rack so that it dries between uses.

  • We favor ingredients derived from nature.

  • We support the use of sustainable growing and harvesting practices.

  • We source from suppliers that value human & labor rights.

  • We don’t use animal ingredients (with the exception several products that contain honey and/or beeswax).

  • Work is underway to minimize the environmental impact of our end-to-end supply chain. Recyclability and biodegradability are heavily favored. This is the only planet we call home, so we’re working to protect it for the next generation.

PACKAGING & SHIPPING:

The shampoo bar is retail packaged in a cardboard box made partly from post-consumer waste. The printing ink is from water and vegetable-based ink systems - we don't use petroleum-based inks. This item typically ships inside of a recycled corrugated box that is sealed with water-activated gummed paper tape. We try NOT to print and include a receipt/packing slip because doing so is wasteful.
